The French and Indian War


    The French and Indian War was also known as the Seven Year War. It took place durring the years 1756-1763 in the territory of America. By the 17th century European countries like Spain, France, Sweden, Holland and England claimed the land of America.  France made a settlement in America called Quebec, in 1603. It was a huge settlement, but more as a trading center, like most of the French settlements were.

  • 1756-1757; France is winning, they destroyed forts in Lake Ontario.
  • 1758-1759; A shift occured, now Britain is winning. They managed to cut off French supplies. 
  • 1759; British got hold of Quebec.
  • 1760; British got hold of Montreal.
  • 1763; War finaly ended. Treaty of Paris, British kept Canada and ceded land.

This War was place for the cause of an imperial conflict between the British and the French towards America. The French decided to expand their land starting to expanded by the Ohio river valley in which got into a problem into the British colonies now that they claim land, especially in the Virginia colony.  In the years of 1754 to 1755, France defeated in quick into the British territory. The governor Shirley said he was fearing that the French  settlers in nova scotia  would join soon the France military and destroy hundreds of the British colonies. The French were having a big suggests not only for the big military but also for having american Indian allies. 

By the year of 1758 to 1759 the british could turn down French supplies by training with the Indian, for the reason that by the time the French had their victory they run out of supplies turning the Indians against then. At 1759 they attack Quebec and on 1760 they attack Montreal capturing the French and making them surrender. The French by surrendering they gave the British big parts of land. This make the British expand and got them economic problems. Making the British to pay more for troop to protect the land.
