The Boston Massacre was the killing of five colonists by British on March 5, 1770. Between patriots mob, throwing snowballs, stones, and a squad of British soldiers. The British had settled troops in many colonial towns to keep order. The presence of British troops in the city of Boston was making them feel uncomfortable. This led the colonists to attack and show their feelings. Eight British soldiers were standing guard. Five colonists that died; Crispus Attucks, Samuel Gray, James Caldwell, Samuel Maverick, and Patric Carr. The most known is Crispus Attucks, which will be mentioned on the second paragraph. About four hundred men had gathered in front of the Custon House.
At the trial, John Adams defended the British, leading to their release. Samuel Adams and Robert Paine were the attorneys for the prosecution. Later, two of the British soldiers were found guilty of manslaughter. The Boston Massacre was a signal event leading to the Revolutionary War. The event in Boston helped unite the colonies against Britain. What started a minor fight, became turning in the beginnings of the American Revolution. The Boston Massacre helped to activate the colonists´ desire for American Independence. This is one of the major events in history that began with a small incident.
